About Us

Luke and Caroline offer you a very warm Devon welcome to Collihole.

Collihole is an ancient hamlet comprising originally a farmstead and a several hay barns. It is said that the original homestead was built around 1260 with the latter Devon longhouses coming later in the mid 1400’s. The longhouses and barns are built from local Dartmoor granite and the thatched roofs add immense character to the typical Dartmoor long houses.

Collihole is operated as a small farm with a herd of pedigree beef shorthorn cattle, hens and two spaniels. We grow the majority of our own produce and with a multitude of blackcurrant bushes make our own cassis, compote, jam and sorbet from the copious amounts of fruit.

Caroline was brought up within 5 miles of Collihole and after a French adventure has returned to Devon. Luke moved to the area in 2014 and immediately fell in love with the area, the community and lifestyle. Luke and Caroline moved to Collihole in 2021 and wasted no time in refurbishing both Cottages to the highest standard. Caroline brings her unique interior expertise of an eclectic mix of French antiques and new furnishings and Luke using his years in building have combined to create a pair of stunning cottages that exude luxury and relaxation.

Collihole offers the opportunity to explore the fabulous walks on Dartmoor from your doorstep. The high moor is within half a mile and a walk into the village of Chagford a mere 35 minutes over Meldon Hill. The clean air, fresh filtered water from our own borehole and star gazing at night are only a few of the basic attractions combined with the natural beauty of staying at Collihole.
The two cottages are suited to either a single person or couple in Hawthorn Cottage or up to four people with a well-behaved dog in Butterwell Cottage.

We look forward to greeting you to our Dartmoor haven.
